Located on Virginia's Rt. 33 where it crosses the Blue Ridge Mountains, the setting for our pottery studio is truly breathtaking. The back of our property is the noisy trout stream "Swift Run", and the view from our studio windows is Saddleback Mountain with thirty acres of forest preserved by the Pottery twenty years ago. We have been privileged for the past thirty years to have stewardship of the Golden Horseshoe Inn property on the original trail through the mountains. The old Inn was built in 1827 and is now used for the weddings we hold on the grounds of the pottery. Our studio and shop are built around an early 1900's building that was originally a post office for the Lydia Community. Our location is less than a hundred yards from the eastern boundary of the Shenandoah National Park, so it is not unusual for some of our guests to be of the furry kind. Our two room shop adjoins the studio which is a busy hive of activity for much of the year. You will often find someone throwing on the wheel, trimming, glazing, or loading a kiln, depending on which day you come. We welcome visitors to our studio and invite you to see our whole process, which takes six to eight weeks for every piece.
